Hotel/Parking
PDI has secured a hotel block with discounted rates for program participants and their families at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe. (A booking link will be sent out to PDI participants after the selection process is complete.) We have also arranged for you to receive the following amenities:
- Free breakfast
- Discounted on-site parking
- Free evening ‘Kickback’ receptions
- Free soda and popcorn.
Although you may choose to book at another hotel, you likely will not find any at this rate or with discounted parking near the old-town historic plaza area. The Drury is a very short drive to the studios where we will be holding classes and workshops and adjacent to many of Santa Fe’s best restaurants, shops, galleries, and museums.
Drury Plaza Hotel in Santa Fe
Located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, the Drury Plaza Hotel sits adjacent to St. Francis Cathedral, which was built by Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy between 1869 and 1886. Lamy arrived in Santa Fe to become the first archbishop of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Just two blocks from the historic Santa Fe Plaza in downtown Santa Fe, the hotel is within walking distance of amazing cultural attractions like the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, and fantastic shopping and dining venues. The Drury is also just 10 miles from Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF), so it’s perfect for a stay before your travels.
Chaperone Service, Student Room-Sharing, and Ground Transportation from Airport
For those students 15 years old and above traveling without parents, PDI offers a chaperone service for $195. This includes transportation to and from the hotel and studios, coordination of meals, and supervision of check-in and stay at the hotel. Students choosing the chaperone fee are responsible for meals, travel to and from New Mexico, and ground transportation to and from airport.
If roommates are available, chaperoned students will be assigned a roommate and will share equally the cost of the room at the hotel. (PDI staff will help coordinate the process of matching up roommates and making room assignments.) If no roommate is available, chaperoned students will be responsible for the full cost of their room.
If you are potentially interested in this option, there will be a place for you to indicate this as part of the online audition form. Students aged 15 and above who are using the Chaperone Service are responsible for the cost of transportation to and from the airport. We are available to assist you in planning transportation. *Note: Students under the age of 18 are not permitted to check in or stay at the Drury Hotel alone. They must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or be a part of our chaperone program.
Airports
Santa Fe is accessible to air travel through two airports, the Santa Fe Municipal Airport and the Albuquerque International Sunport. Albuquerque is about an hour’s drive south of Santa Fe. Major car rental companies are based near the Sunport, with free transportation running between rental pick-up and return lots and the airport every five minutes. Groome Transportation provides transportation between the Albuquerque Sunport and Santa Fe hotels. RoadRunner Shuttle and Charter provide door-to-door service. The Rail Runner train connects Albuquerque and Santa Fe as well.
The Santa Fe Municipal Airport is on the outskirts of Santa Fe and a short drive to any of the town’s destinations. However, it is a very “cozy” airport with limited in- or out-bound options. Avis Car Rental and Hertz Rent-a-Car provide shuttles from the Municipal airport to their facilities once you arrive.
Ground Transportation from the Airport
Groome Transportation is the recommended shuttle service between the Albuquerque airport and the city of Santa Fe. RoadRunner Shuttle and Charter for both the Albuquerque and Santa Fe Airports. Uber and Lyft are both available in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
